Description: This layer was initially downloaded from Cloudmade data on the 28th January 2013. However eventually a lot of cleaning up, editing and creation of new data were needed. Editing started on the 6th February 2013. The downloaded polylines are beingedited to createroad segments so thateventually a road topology andultimately a road network for the Maltese Islands could be created. Each road segment consists information about the road name and the locality it lies within. Transport Malta data concerning the major links in the Maltese road network wasalsomerged within this layer.This consists the 'Link Name' and the nodes that the respective link lies within. The OpenStreet Map, Word Street Map and Bing Maps Hybrid are used as basemaps. The 'Maze Street Atlas for Malta and Gozo' is alsoconsulted.One limitation is that as data is being created by just one person it is subject to human error. Also, some lack of detail and inconsistencies between the basemaps may also lead to some minor errors.
